Cementing Great North Pie Co as the Quality, Heritage North West Pie Brand

Great North Pie Co. is a multi-award-winning company famous for its traditional handcrafted pies, made with quality ingredients based in the North West. 

Scoop is responsible for the full brand communications and marketing strategy, with a focus on cementing the brand’s reputation and growing brand awareness nationally before launching flagship restaurant at Kampus.

What we did.

Brought in to plug an in-house gap, we worked closely with the team, acting as the full marketing function. We created a 12-month multi-channel marketing plan, incorporating partnerships, collaborations, PR, influencers, social media, website support, CRM, marketing collateral and content. As part of our marketing function, we also worked with Great North Pie Co’s design partner to oversee the look & feel for the brand and were responsible for the full social media strategy and content creation for the brand. 

To increase brand awareness on a national scale, we managed a hard-working press office, featuring a tactical mix of national product placement to drive website mail orders, local media outreach and trade profiling. This included creative news gen around Great British Bake Off, the World Cup and capitalising on Pie Week via a collaboration with Only Scrans. The end result saw the limited edition Only Scrans pie sell out in just 1 hour! 

In the run-up to the launch of its flagship Manchester venue, Kampus, we engaged all key regional and trade media and industry foodies, via a series of teaser press announcements and an exclusive preview lunch. This gave our VIPs the opportunity to explore the space, try the new menu and interview time with co-founders, Neil and Sarah around the brand’s backstory. We also built excitement and brand presence via a First Look with the Manchester Evening News giving their wide audience an exclusive look, plus secured a prestigious profile opportunity with The Caterer for the founder, Neil. 

We captured national media’s attention and drove nationwide interest in the venue by sending pies to our top targets, which included The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and Evening Standard. This led to the brand being featured in The Telegraph’s prestigious new openings round-up.
