Highest Point Festival

After almost four months at Scoop, last weekend I ran the press office at my first big event – Highest Point Festival!

Highest Point is Lancashire’s biggest open-air festival, A four day event held in the beautiful Williamson Park. This year the festival ran between 12th – 15th May and was headlined by Clean Bandit, Richard Ashcroft and Kaiser Chiefs; along with over 100 other acts performing over the weekend.

I arrived on Thursday evening and was straight to work helping to escort media and photographers through the grounds and to interviews with rock legends, Reverend and the Makers and rising stars, Lottery Winners.  But, of course, afterwards I got to enjoy Richard Ashcroft’s set with some amazing local food and a couple of drinks. Friday was much of the same, though this time trying to scout some of the local food vendors to appear on BBC Radio Lancs as they broadcast the show live from the festival, then setting up interviews with renowned DJ Judge Jules and local legends, Lowes.

The rest of the weekend entailed a LOT of walking up steep hills and steps (it’s called Highest Point for a reason), team breakfasts before heading on-site and overall, having an amazing time whilst doing undoubtedly rewarding work.

I have been working on Highest Point since joining the team in January; sending out key information to national and regional media, organising artist interviews and press accreditation, inviting influencers and driving over 125+ pieces of coverage with features on MSN, Lancs Live, Liverpool Echo and Yahoo News. In these last couple of months I have become truly invested in how the festival was coming along; driving ticket sales, hearing about the new acts that were being announced and watching our coverage piling up along the way.

To see the festival in-person was very special, and to experience the weekend myself was even more so,  and I can’t wait to do it all again for 2023! Especially now I have more of an idea of what it’s like to attend.
